Report from a Ukrainian Seminary, Pt. 2

Bram concludes an important look at the state of World Missions, from the perspective of Evangelical Believers in Ukraine. They're having an outsized influence on the growth of the Church all across the ancient Silk Road, and they're at the forefront of major world events rocking Europe and Asia.  Recorded at the Evangelical Seminary of Ukraine, in Kiev.

Report from a Ukrainian Seminary, Pt. 1

On the Eastern edge of Europe, Ukraine is in the crosshairs. And not just militarily! This cultural, agricultural and trading powerhouse is where East meets West, sitting squarely on the northern arm of ancient 'Silk Road.' Its importance hasn't diminished over the centuries. And now Ukraine finds itself at the tip of the spear when it comes to World Evangelism. You'll understand better after this two-part series recorded in Kiev, Ukraine.

Uganda: Report from the Pearl of Africa, Pt. 4

Today concludes an in-depth report from Eastern Africa. After two weeks of pursuing the story, Bram wraps up his survey of the miltary, political and spiritual condition of Uganda, and the neighboring countries of South Sudan, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He's joined in studio by Jim and Cher.

Uganda: Report from the Pearl of Africa, Pt. 3

Bram, Cher and Jim continue the discussion on why Uganda, of all places, is so welcoming to refugees. Even facing the prospect of serious terror attacks and spillover from a half-dozen major conflicts, Uganda remains the 'Hope of Africa.' While so many other countries burn, Uganda is a relative oasis.

Uganda: Report from the Pearl of Africa, Pt. 2

Today Bram continues his report on the current situation in Uganda, where millions continue their sojourn as refugees and aliens. While things are currently stable, the absence of men mean real dangers lie ahead for millions of widows and orphans. And the lack of jobs mean a desparate and growing need for serious economic development. How are Christians responding?

Bram , Jim and Cher explore the subject.

Uganda: Report from the Pearl of Africa, Pt. 1

Winston Churchill coined the phrase, and even with all the turmoil in Africa this Century, it remains true - Uganda is 'The Pearl of Africa.' Geographically diverse and multicultural, it is the crossroads of the Continent. Yet today, that 'Pearl' has become a 'Pearl of Great Price.' It is under tremendous strain as the neighbor to a half-dozen major conflicts. Remarkably, it remains a refuge for millions of them , and at the invitation of the government! A nation of 40 million people is host to almost 3 million displaced citizens of several warring countries.

Nowhere else on the planet has quite the same challenges or opportunities as today's Uganda. Bram traveled with our friends from Conscience International to see for himself, and bring home the story for you. The overview starts today. Bram is joined in studio by Jim and Cher.

UKRAINE: Christ in the Maidan, Pt. 2

Today, Bram and Oles Dmytrenko continue their walk through the heart of Kiev, Ukraine. The Maidan Uprising of 2014, known by the locals as the 'Winter on Fire.' Hundreds fell to Russian snipers. Thousands still bear the physical scars of bullets and bludgeons. Hundreds of thousands still carry the hidden wounds of trauma including, as Oles will readily admit, himself and all the other pastors and volunteers that sheltered, fed and counseled protesters. But a new day for the Church was born in the mutual suffering and new doors to the Gospel are opening. Isn't that just like God?

The moving journey ends honoring the 'Heavenly Hundred' - the young and old of Ukraine at the center of the darkest day for Ukraine since the Chernobyl disaster almost 30 years ago.

UKRAINE: Christ in the Maidan, Pt. 1

Going where angels fear to tread, the faithful often find themselves in the crosshairs. Literally. The Winter of 2014 was a prime example. As Ukranian patriots faced down a corrupt and violent dictator they braved Russian snipers to win back their country. And right in the center of it? The Body of Christ. What the Church did during those bitterly cold months is an unbelievable story of resilience, faith and sacrifice.

Oles Dmytrenko is the best guide one could have to this incredible piece of modern Church history. He was there and witnessed the horror, and the miracle that was the Maidan Uprising. Along the way he saw God perform some genuine miracles, lives saved, and more importantly, souls saved for eternity. Together, Bram and Oles walk through the living wound of a country, and witness to the hope that is rising from the ashes.

The Moral Minority - A New Opportunity! (CR CLASSIC)

My, how things change. Or do they? Every generation possesses a certain creativity in repeating the same old sins. This generation is no different. But does the current moral climate mean the Gospel is on the retreat? Far from it. Norm sees real opportunity where others might see hopelessness. As a result, we'll take a risk in saying that this means Norm has learned to see things a little more like Jesus does... Jim Governale joins Norm in studio.

This is a Compassion Radio CLASSIC program, featuring the late Dr. Norm Nelson.

It was first broadcast 2 years ago this month.
