Following Jesus through the Eye of the Needle

"Harder is it for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God..." Norm guest today, Kent Annan, decided to follow the call of Christ right through the 'eye of the needle' - living a humble and challenging life serving the destitute of Haiti. Never did simple things become so desirable than when he couldn't get them anymore. From air conditioning to cheeseburgers, pleasure after pleasure was stripped from his life. Funny thing, though. On the way he discovered wealth like he'd never known. Kent tells us his story, today.

Joy Junction

He's living the American dream. An immigrant working his way up from poverty to great riches and success. Except this immigrant story turns the concept of 'success' on its head. Jeremy Reynolds didn't come to America to gain wealth and fame. He came to serve. And the kind of wealth he's building can only be counted in another Kingdom. And wherever Jeremy serves, there is an abundance of joy. Jeremy Reynolds and Joy Junction is a very different kind of success story.

Rich Christians, Hungry World

We're all hungry for something. If we have enough food to fill our bellies, we have the luxury of pursuing other meaningful spiritual things. So, first things, first. In a generation of unparalleled prosperity and unimaginable poverty, how do we imagine a future beyond the stalemate? Norm's guest, Ron Sider, has some ideas.

The Pastor

"If you love me, feed my sheep."  Famous words from Jesus to Peter in John chapter 21. It's followed by an arguably more important exhortation that we don't talk about much. Jesus tells the first great pastor that he will suffer for his flock. "Follow Me," says Jesus. In what? The way of suffering. Today, Norm has an important discussion with a great man of letters, a prolific author, but most importantly, a faithful shepherd.  You might have seen his name just past the flyleaf of your Message translation bible.  His name is Eugene Peterson.

Original Sin

Are we sinners because we sin? Or do we sin because we're sinners? It's a famous question posed decades ago by the great saint Watchman Nee. Any parent will tell you "however it works, no child stays perfect forever." Perhaps you're a parent who has watched a little bundle of innocence turn into a ball of terror (figuratively, of course.) Norm's guest today, Alan Jacobs, tackles a pretty serious theological concept, but he does it in a thoroughly engaging and down-to-earth way.

Her survival after traumatic injury is worthy of a movie. Her amazing accomplishments as an artist, leader, spokesperson and writer are known the world over. But its her deep abiding love of Jesus, His Word and His way of life that will likely have the most profound impact. In this world and the next.

The Jesus Manifesto

Sometimes the things you see as obvious and true are radical ideas to others.  Norm's guest today, Leonard Sweet, knows that full-well. And sometimes the things that have always been true have to be proclaimed anew to a generation who hasn't discovered it.
